The National Iota Foundation (NIF) was formed in 1992 as a 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt non-profit foundation. It operates to further the interest of the Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc. (Iota) and the communities it serves. The NIF is a philanthropic organization committed to charitable works that educate, cultivate, and advocate the programming thrust of Iota and its stakeholders. The NIF supports Iota’s programming initiatives by educating the community on how Iota’s principles and initiatives can benefit their lives, cultivating the internal and external relationships, and advocating for Iota.
The NIF proudly opened the doors to Founders Hall on October 15, 2000. Founder’s Hall is the international headquarters of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc. The facility is located in the economic empowerment zone in Baltimore’s Greenmount West neighborhood. The facility acquisition symbolizes the tenacity of Iota’s founders and is a tribute to former Grand Polari. The facility’s location enables the NIF and the Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc. to participate in the revitalization of the Greenmount West neighborhood.
The affairs of the NIF are managed by a Board of Directors who volunteer their time and treasure to ensure the NIF’s success. The Board’s actions are governed by its values of teamwork, stewardship, transparency, and trust. A Code of Ethics and Donor Bill of Rights was developed to support the board’s commitment to these values.
